Alfama

Today I toured the old district of Lisbon, known as Alfama. This area was somehow not destroyed by the huge earthquake in 1755. Some of the main attractions of the area are the Sé Cathedral and the Castelo de São Jorge, which I took lots of pictures of.

It's a Moorish castle, rebuilt in the 11th century

The castle was teeming with peacocks and cats. Also the peacocks were very loud.

The castle is on the highest hill in Lisbon, so it has really excellent views.

Where the moat would have been. I think.

Bela Lisboa

The cathedral interior.

Built in the 12th century, the Sé is Lisbon's primary cathedral.

Also, at work today I drafted an email to a client about what law was applicable to their situation. It was terrifying to be actually putting things in my own words instead of just translating.
