Today was a great day. At work I corrected the translation of a contract between the Church and an architect for the construction of a meetinghouse. Also, while I quite like where I work, the smoking culture of Europe is killing me. When I walked in to my boss's office to ask for an assignment, he was just smoking in there. His office is about 10 feet away from mine, so you can imagine what I'm dealing with. My eyes have been burning ever since I started working there. I thought it was allergies, but I realize now that I'm just getting lung and eye cancer.
Anyway, after work I went to this really famous cafe called A Brasileira that is over 100 years old and hosted famous people like Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa. I enjoyed a hot chocolate and pastel de nata there while a Cape Verdean band entertained on the esplanade. It was a lot of fun. I walked around the general area, which is called Chiado, as twilight approached, and I finally took pictures, but I just realized my camera uses an XD card and my computer only holds SD cards, so I'll work on resolving that issue. Luckily they have a FNAC here, which is a store I loved while I was in Paris, and it should have a card reader.
